General:
Acid Beasts are small, cunning creatures that prey primarily on sleeping nocturnal animals. They stand 2 feet high and 3 feet long on four legs. They are a brownish-red in color. They tend to be skinny due to their high metabolisms. Acid Beasts have long snouts with teeth similar to a wild dog, although less pronounced or sharp.

Combat:
Acid Beasts tend to follow a standard pattern in initiating combat. A single Acid Beast will stand in view not far from the victim. Meanwhile, the other two acid beasts of the triplet stand on the flanks, out of sight. When the victim approaches the visible beast, the beast will spit acid towards the enemy. The other two will the immediately commence attacking in the best manner - either bite or ranged spittle.

The acidic spittle these creatures possess have a range of 5y/10y/15y and do 1d6 points of acid damage, save vs. paralyzation for half damage. A victim failing his saving throw must roll a save for his belongings as well. Others within five feet of the victim must save versus paralyzation or suffer 1d3 points of splashing damage.

When Acid Beasts successfully bite a victim, the victim must save vs. poison or be slowed as if by a slow spell in 1d2 rounds. This effect lasts 1d6+1 rounds.

Habitat/Society:
Acid Beasts in groups larger than three form a pack-like society similar to that of the wolves. There are only two mating couples in the entire pack. These couples produce 1-2 young Acid Beasts after a gestation period of 2 months.

Ecology:
These creatures tend to be higher in the food chain than small game, but are still fairly easy prey for the larger predators in humid forest environments, such as great bears or mountain lions.
